ANTAS FLAT

Undo, and Redo the Original

The design of the Antas Flat seeks to restore the typology’s original charm and architectural character while adapting it to the contemporary lifestyle of a young couple.

Over the years, successive alterations had replaced and modified the apartment’s materials, erasing much of its original character, which was a distinctive mark of 1960s Oporto. The current design reintroduces the original flooring and finishes, preserves the high ceilings without false panels for lighting infrastructure, and maintains the original layout of the private rooms.

The most significant transformation occurs in the social area, where the removal of a small room between the kitchen and living room creates an open dialogue between the two spaces, enhancing natural light in the apartment’s central areas.
