The container houses.

The project proposes the construction of a new building in a central area of downtown Porto. The building was designed as loft-style housing. Our intention was to create an open living space, allowing for many different configurations and uses, adaptable to the users’ needs. The new volume follows the skyline of the adjacent buildings and rises from a pre-existing stone wall. The entire building structure and cladding materials will be prefabricated to reduce construction costs.

The main objective of the proposal is to offer the market contemporary urban housing typologies at low cost. The team sees this project as a great opportunity to prove that efficient and creative architecture does not necessarily have to be expensive or uncompetitive in the housing market.
