A former commercial space regains its residential form.
On the second floor of a historic building facing Rua de São Nicolau, a former commercial space regains its residential form, transforming into a T2 apartment designed for intimacy and light. The living room and kitchen share the same space, and a discreet corridor leads to the two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom.
The balconies remain intact, opening to the outside with just the right measure, two small intervals of air and city with views over the Douro. The façade and openings have been restored, preserving the original proportions and materials.
With 98.60 m², the apartment retains the essence of the building and the way it breathes in the historic centre. The infrastructures are merely readjusted, an almost invisible update, made to last. The project seeks to restore meaning and continuity to the place.
