VILANOVA HOUSE
In between.
The Vilanova House, through the composition of its volume, seeks to integrate both urbanistically and within the landscape alongside the neighboring buildings. The main elevation aligns with the façades of adjacent buildings, respecting their composition and scale, while the attic follows the slope of the neighboring rooftops.
Due to the plot’s configuration and topography, with a gap of approximately 3.00 meters between Rua de Vilanova and the backstreet facing Alameda Prof. Ruy Luís Gomes, the rear elevation presents only two floors above the natural ground level. The ground floor is largely recessed, with only three wide windows providing light and ventilation.
In the backyard, a swimming pool and adjacent living areas extend the social spaces of the house outdoors. The house is organized over three floors: the ground floor accommodates the garage and family work areas, the first floor houses the social areas, and the top floor contains the bedrooms.
